Daft Punk “flat-out miracle workers”

If Discovered: A Collection of Daft Funk Samples proves anything, it isn’t that Daft Punk are surreptitious thieves– it’s that they’re transformative reinterpreters, and in more than a few cases, flat-out miracle workers.

Pitchfork reviews Discovered: A Collection of Daft Funk Samples

What kind of fool buys this when they could instead buy Alive 2007?

Yeah, kind of a weird thing to put out. File under ‘maybe worth torrenting’.

I’ve got a quote from Nate Patrin in my sig file. I didn’t realise he was anything more than a faceless ILX commenter. Here is something funny from his blog:

This is a collection of the ORIGINAL tunes that shows us where the French duo Daft Punk took their SAMPLES from. Listening to this disc will make your reassess the French duo’s musical prowess. These 12 tracks lay down enough funked-up soul and disco to start your own 70s themed club night; an assortment of favoured classic with enough hidden gems mixed in to keep us both interested and INFORMED.
